DirtMeet ("we", "our", or "us") operates the DirtMeet mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our app.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
Display name — shown to other riders in the app
Profile photo — optional, stored securely
Location data — used to sort nearby rides and geocode ride locations (only when you grant permission)
Push notification token — used to send ride reminders and chat notifications

How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account
To show you nearby rides and connect you with other riders
To send push notifications about rides you've joined
To enable real-time chat on ride pages
To log errors and improve app stability

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security including encryption at rest and in transit. Our database is hosted in the United States.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Supabase — database and authentication
Expo — push notifications and app updates
Apple / Google — in-app purchases

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Location Data

DirtMeet requests location permission to sort rides by proximity and to geocode ride meeting points. Location data is only accessed when you explicitly grant permission. We do not track your location in the background.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. When you delete your account, all associated data (profile, messages, ride memberships, ratings) is permanently removed.

Children's Privacy

DirtMeet is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Delete your account and all associated data
Opt out of push notifications via your device settings

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "last updated" date.
